"Latched"

2016-Present

An ongoing series of tapestries, rugs, and mirrors that explore unconventional connections between body and space.

Currently I am making soft, queer, and affirming spaces for viewing one self using mirrors and latch-hooking techniques that I am developing.  All of the patterning is conceived using the blue grid, which comes printed on the mesh from the manufacturer, as an inspiration and limitation.

Conceptually all of the work revolves around the balance between material structure and emotional wellbeing. The goal is to make objects that allow the viewer to physically connect themselves to their image and give them a warm and fuzzy feeling when they see their reflection adorned with a woolen halo.
